For sure, there are tons of worthwhile apps for children out there – and tons of websites dedicated to reviewing them! And once in a while, we profile a standout.
Good review pages in the past have had a consistent perspective and smart organization. Teachers With Apps was a great website because it offered a teacher’s perspective, and was unique in sorting its app reviews among educational categories. In much the same way, if you’re looking for the opinion of techie moms, The iMums might be worth a look.
The iMums distinguish themselves for a few key reasons. First, they are incredibly up-to-date. They already have a handful of reviews today! Second, the detail they put into their reviews goes above and beyond most out there. Their articles detail features and quirks you might not find in other reviews. And, on top of all that, they have a selection of interviews with the people designing and programming the apps we all love.
We’d say The iMums is worth the visit, even if you don’t add it to your regular rotation of app blogs. Our only complaint is they’re quite positive in their reviews; they could do a better job of distinguishing the better apps from the less so. But maybe that’s because, with the volume of children’s apps coming out, even a blog like theirs can only focus on good ones.
If that’s the case, it sure is a great time to be a kid!
