Games For Kids, By Kids!

When you think of summer camp you probably think of crafts, sports and maybe nap time! What if I were to tell you that there are summer camps where children can learn to make games for the ipad. What would you think? Iím thinking that this is a great idea because letís face it, us adults can say all we want that we know what kids want but we donít know better than the kids themselves! The quality and visuals of the games may not be as amazing as a developer who has multiple years of experience, but the games will have ideas and properties that will attract children.

This summer at iD Tech Camp, children between the ages of 7 and 18 were learning 3D modeling, animation, 3D web deisgn and C++. There are actually specific sessions at this camp for iPhone and iPad game design. †During one of these sessions, 8 year old Daniel Katari built 5 games within 1 week!I think this shows that children do have the ability to make a difference in the lives of other children. Camps like these are a good thing and should be available to all children. This specific camp is in San Fransico and runs for most of the summer. †The games that are made their are currently not avaiable to public, but hopefully they will be eventually so we can see what these children can do!
