There are many educational apps for kids out there ranging from apps that teach the basics of ABC’s and 123′s to apps that teach the fundamentals of reading and spelling. How do parents choose which one to buy when there’s always a new one coming out every day?
Recently the app Smash Your Food has been creating a lot of buzz over its fun way of teaching kids and parents about nutrition. The app shows vivid images of foodbeing crushed with sound effects while you guess what kind of nutrients are in it. For example, you may have to guess how much sugar is in a can of coke and based on how accurate you are, you may level up. It also gives nutritional advice to parents as well. This app is leaving an impression on kids and adults alike about the foods they are eating and should be eating (I heard even pizza has been declared a vegetable now based on the amount of tomato paste used). With childhood obesity on the rise, apps like this could help turn the tables because if kids start eating healthy from a young age, they can develop healthy habits for life. This app is even a winner of Michelle Obama’s “Apps for Healthy Kids” Contest, so even the First Lady likes this app! That’s got to mean something right?
