5 Good Luck Foods to Celebrate Lunar New Year

If your New Year’s resolutions didn’t come together quite as planned, your second chance is fast approaching – the Lunar New Year! To help you ensure a prosperous and happy year to come, I’m going to share 5 dishes traditionally thought to bring good luck to all who feast upon them.

Noodles: Noodles, by their very shape, represent longevity. You can cook them however you like – in soup or stir-fried – but be sure to keep them as long as possible! Yup, a slurpfest is guaranteed.

Dumplings:These plump goodies resemble the ancient, ingot-shaped Chinese currency, so eating them is said to bring wealth and prosperity. Jiaozi, the Chinese name for dumplings, is also what China’s first bank note is called.

Fish:The word fish in Chinese is a homophone for abundance. The fish should be served with the head and tail intact to ensure a good start and finish and to avoid bad luck throughout the year!

Spring Rolls:Mmmm. As if you need a reason to eat these. Spring rolls represent fortune and wealth because they look like bars of gold.

Sweets:For a SWEET life of course.
